Vibes and Stuff

That which we call a Leica, by any other song would sound as sweet.
And welcome to my dilemma. Here before you are two leica reels of a film I am currently putting together; both put to different music. Mind you they both need a little re-working but the film is going to stay relatively similar regardless of what song is chosen. My problem is I can't decide on which song to use...

Here's where you come in: Give each a watch and let me know what you think. Both are approx 30 seconds each so take a minute homies.

Song: Super Brother by Guitar Vader
(note: the darkness at the end is reserved for the credits)

Song: Pushing the Sky by Yoko Kanno
(note: at the beginning when the dude's leaning against the wall, he'll be singing the lyrics)

Can't Tell Me Nothing

As most of you know, Kanye West and 50 Cent have been feuding over who's album would come out victorious on September 11th. The massive debate that caused Fiddy to claim that if Kanye West's album Graduation could outsell his album Curtis he would stop doing solo albums. Well, for all those of you who are religious members of Ban50.com, your wish may come true! West's album has a six-figure lead over 50's. Graduation leads with 781,000 units, followed by Curtis with 603,000.

A few nights ago I had the honor of watching a very special episode of Much Music's RAP CITY. The witty witty producers thought it ingenious to play the following video's back to back

Forever Begins

OH EM GEE!!!!

On July 31st, 2007 Lonnie Rashid Lynn, also known as Common released his 7th installment, Finding Forever.

At the sake of trying to not sound like an after school special, Imma be lettin' y'all know about the magic that is Finding Forever. No really... I DO have my reservations with this album, so ch-check it!

First and foremost, I should say that this ain't the C-O-Double-M-O-N's best effort to date. After listening to it for the first time I found my self saying "Com just doesn't have the lyrical integrity on this album as he does on his previous chart-droopers"
That's when it hit me that that is exactly what people were complaining about Electric Circus. THEEE Electric Circus that I pride as my favorite album of all time that has been considered my "bible" and been described as putting me into an "Orgasmic Trance".
With that said I didn't want to sound like a hypocrite, so I gave it a few more listens... like a few dozen more that same night.
What I discovered was this album has the wrong title!! This should be called BE, not Finding Forever, Be should be called Finding Forever!!!! (you feel me?)
On this album, Com seems to feel at most very comfortable with just being, he describes the lives of people through song and the such. The dude has finally arrived to this tip where he can just kick back and actually just rhyme bout whatever and just Be with it.. my argument is that the album BE is his closest attempt to perfection, more critically acclaimed than anything else he has ever done in his career including 'I Used to Love H.E.R.' and his first Grammy earned with ex-girlfriend Erykah Badu. That album was his true open hand at "forever" and that's where he found it. Finding Forever is where he comes full circle while still being able to evolve from the 40 drinking emcee he was 15 years ago on 'Can I Borrow a Dollar' in '92.

k... that's the orgasmic trance I was talking about, sorry

All in all, a dope album.. but no where as close to perfection or 5 mics or XXL's or whatever as Be was.

some things do confuse me just a bit though.
The fifth track sounds like he really REALLY misses Miss Badu (Awwwwwwwww) and he has none other than Will.I.Am to be his wingman on his "Yes/No/Maybe" note

'So Far to Go' is my only real beef with the album. I almost (and I do stress almost) want to skip it when listening, Why?? When announced that there would be a new Dilla produced track on the album I was geeked in anticipation to find out what it may be, just to hear the same beat that was on Dilla's 'The Shining'. Now that's cool, it's a DOPE track. The issue is Com re-wrote the lyrics to it with nowhere to go but down.

C'mon Com, if you're going to redo your own track AT LEAST MAKE IT BETTER, don't disgrace Dilla Dogg by make it a snoozer dude.

Not to mention this little tidbit of information your male fan base didn't exactly need to know
Creative with the gifts, plus he hit it from the back! (Ugh!)
And places we ain't supposed to

Hmmmmmm... Common likes it in the bum ay?

The follow up track is a beautiful ballad about how Common really just can't settle down. Sorry ladies,
as far as wives [He] was thinking like Solomon

but with entourage like this can you blame him?

Ah well, if I were a certain head wrapping soulquarian better call Tyron eclectic singer I might be a little hurt... but I ain't so HA!

Dope album, I'd buy it if I hadn't already

Disney's upcoming Princess film to have black heroine
Thu Mar 8, 6:32 PM ET

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - The Walt Disney Co will introduce the first black animated heroine of its lucrative Princess line in its upcoming film "The Frog Princess," the company said at its annual meeting on Thursday.

The film, scheduled for release in 2009 by Disney Feature Animation, also is the first hand-drawn film the company has committed to since pledging last month to return to the traditional animation form that made it a worldwide brand.

"The Frog Princess," a musical scored by composer
Randy Newman, is "an American fairy tale" starring a girl named Maddy who lives in the French Quarter in New Orleans, said John Lasseter, chief creative director for Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.

Disney did not provide details of the plot, but the company showed shareholders preliminary drawings from the film and had Newman and a local jazz band play a song from the film's score.

Maddy joins eight other Disney princess characters that have generated $3 billion in global retail sales since 1999. Disney Princesses is the fastest growing brand for the company's Consumer Products division.

Disney introduced its first non-white animated heroine in its 1992 film, "Aladdin" with the Middle Eastern character Jasmine, and followed it three years later with the Native American princess "Pocahontas."

The creation of the Chinese heroine from "Mulan" came in 1998. Other Disney princesses include the main characters from the films "Cinderella," "Sleeping Beauty," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Little Mermaid."

The Consumer Products division aggregated the eight characters in 1999 under the banner "Disney Princesses" and has rolled out toys, books, clothing, furniture and other merchandise aimed at girls ages 3 to 8.

Disney Chief Executive Robert Iger said the company wanted to show its support for New Orleans, only partially rebuilt 18 months after it was flooded by Hurricane Katrina, by holding its annual meeting and setting its newest animated film here.

"We thought it would be a great signal to send that New Orleans is important, that we believe in New Orleans, and in a way it was our means of not only expressing some appreciation but of giving back," Iger told Reuters in an interview. "This is a town we have derived great stories from."

Undeniable

First and foremost... my everlasting battle with music piracy for those muuahfukkas who fiendishly claim they "can't wait for the album to be released". From a TRUE Hip-Hop Purist and undeniable MUSIC LOVER, ya'll who stay 'true' just WRECKED the release date of TRU3 MAGIC!

so keep downloading and fckucking up artists

from MTV.com

Now you see it, now you don't. At least that's what Geffen Records is hoping will happen with Mos Def's latest album, Tru3 Magic, which was unceremoniously released by the label on December 29.

Although the LP is available for purchase online and at some retail outlets, representatives for Geffen are calling the project a limited-edition "pre-release" rather than a full-scale album release by the rapper — a rare if not unprecedented situation. Responding to whether Tru3 Magic officially came out, a Geffen publicist told MTVNews,
Magic officially came out, a Geffen publicist told MTV News, "It did and it didn't."

According to the label, after the album began leaking online in early December, a decision was made to push the project forward and send it to stores to combat Internet piracy; some copies of the LP were in stores as early as December 19. The oddly timed December 29 official release date — a Friday as opposed to the traditional Tuesday, and during the slow media week between Christmas and New Year's Day — virtually guaranteed that the album would receive little attention. Sources close to Mos Def said the rapper also wanted to move forward with Tru3, which is his last contractual obligation to Geffen under his current deal, according to a label rep.

However, after both parties realized little time would be available to properly promote the LP, Mos and the label came to the joint decision to push the release date back. At the time of the decision, the packaged CD had already been sent off to distributors and shipped to stores. Geffen responded by attempting to recall the album, but once retail outlets receive copies, a recall is difficult: Whether or not to send back the albums is at the discretion of each store.
Now a springtime release, featuring a slightly altered track list and full artwork (the current packaging of Tru3> features only a picture-CD in a blank plastic case), the project will considered a new release for a second time even though it officially charted last week. The LP debuted at #151 on the Billboard albums chart on 11,004 copies sold, according to SoundScan. The single "Undeniable" also received a Grammy nod in the Best Rap Solo Performance category. By adjusting the track list, the album will be eligible to officially debut again later in the year upon its second release, explained a retail representative for Billboard magazine.

So fans who manage to get their hands an early copy of Tru3 Magic, consider yourselves the owners of a collector's item.

Congratulations,
and don't wonder why the industry is producing such watered down disposable music.
Anyways, peace.. I got a radio interview to do

FOR THOSE WHO LOVE MUSIC

on that note, on Mos' website mosdefmusic.com there's a sampler of some of the songs off the album and a media section with a couple vid's...
I think the Mighty Mos might be on this. After watching his video for Sex, Love and Money... well.
It started off with some promise of a gritty mos narrative short or something.. then it just got gritty, and the end just had me confused.
but hey, art is subjective right?
